Fire and Emergency New Zealand is a Crown Entity established on 1 July 2017 under the Fire and Emergency New Zealand Act 2017. The role of our new organisation is to reduce unwanted fires, respond to structural and vegetation fires and other emergencies including motor vehicle crashes, medical emergencies, hazardous substance related incidents, natural disasters and support increased community resilience.
Our new, unified organisation provides a fire and emergency service that delivers for communities, and the firefighters who serve them, now and in the future.

This position is pivotal for creating and implementing technology and business solutions to keep our people safe, to save our people time, to provide nationally consistent data and enhance/replace our IT and business systems to meet our future strategies.
This position is a direct report to the Director ICT and is accountable for the day-to-day support and development of all business systems, be the leader of the ICT Transformation Programme and deliver to the agreed programme of work. You will need to have excellent communication and written skills and be able to form strong relationships with our frontline staff, area/region and national headquarters personnel.

To be successful for this role you will need to demonstrate significant experience in business systems support and development, strong engagement skills to work across all levels of the organisation, a background in Microsoft technologies including cloud (exposure to Xamerin is a bonus) and a good working knowledge of implementing mobile solutions across a large and complex organisation.


The ideal applicant:

  • Has extensive experience in the delivery of a diversified range of business applications including Finance, HR/Payroll, Cloud, Microsoft based, asset management, training and bespoke solutions
  • Highly developed skills in effective and positive team leadership skills and experience, including negotiating positive change and staff management
  • Proven experience of effectively engaging with customers to understand business requirements including the ability to translate these requirements into new systems (projects) or enhancements to existing applications

The remuneration range for this role is $129,173 to $151,968. Benefits include matched Kiwisaver employer contributions of up to 6%, life and income protection insurance for KiwiSaver contributors, and unlimited fair use sick leave policy.
