The Security Engineer, Level 1 is a member of the Wellington Security Operations Centre and is primarily responsible for security platform and SOC team infrastructure related activities in all environments (e.g. Production, Pre-Production, Testing).
The core objectives and responsibilities of the Security Engineer, Level 1 include (but not limited to):
- Action daily tasks and processes
- Platform monitoring
- Endpoint monitoring
- Capacity and performance monitoring
- Patching and maintenance
- Backup management of platforms
- Log source monitoring
- Onboarding additional data sources
- Platform and health management reporting
- Participating in a 24/7 roster
- Other administrative tasks as required
We’re looking for enthusiasm and commitment, and a really strong desire to learn and develop, along with the communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills to enable you to work effectively in the team & customer environment as well.
In addition, we are looking for a combination of skills as below. You may not be guru level in all, but you’ll be keen to learn.
- Demonstrated experience in an IT security and networking related environment, to include IT Analytical, Monitoring and Forensics skills
- Knowledge of networks, firewalls, proxies concepts and technologies
- Any exp or training in handling vendor support queries
- Ability to be self-managing
- Initiative and a pro-active approach
- An eye for detail
- Good communication skills, ability to communicate with internal and external clients.
- Works well in a team environment
- Minimum 2 years in an IT technical support related role or similar
- Experience working in ticketing systems and handling workflow

Ideally you will be able to pass government security checks, so you will need to be a resident or citizen of NZ or have lived here for a minimum of one year.
