Your excellent IT skills and knowledge will support the Isabel Provincial Government to ensure that the socio-economic needs, and environmental and social justice concerns of its citizens are addressed, by making the government accessible to the people.
The Isabel Provincial Government (IPG) is mandated under the Solomon Islands Provincial Government Act 1997, and works in collaboration with the Solomon Islands National Government.
IPG relies heavily on IT services and their pre-existing systems have not been effective. VSA has previously deployed volunteers to ensure that the systems are supported, and you will be building on the work of the most recent volunteer, who has developed a long-term IT support plan for IPG.
As the successful candidate, your impact will last long beyond your assignment, as you will recruit, train and mentor a permanent local IT support person. The permanent support person will cover the on-going implementation and support of the long-term IT Support plan for IPG. You will also be responsible for ensuring that IPG has standardised, well documented IT systems.
We are looking for a volunteer with:
- Previous experience leading recruitment of IT staff
- Experience in IT network documentation in various areas of systems operations
- An ICT/IT tertiary qualification or relevant work experience
- A working knowledge of network administration
- Proven ability to train and mentor staff
This is an 2-year assignment based in the Solomon Islands.
