Who are we?
Flick Electric is not your standard power company, and we’re proud of it. We give New Zealanders access to the wholesale cost of electricity, taking the business of selling power into unchartered territory. We’re Wellington-based tech innovators introducing fairness, honesty and transparency to a crusty old electricity industry.
Our tech team builds all the software required to run an electricity company, for our customers and internal teams. We build and maintain microservices and distributed systems on top of AWS.
Our team is smart, diverse, and friendly. We work together through pairing, mentoring and code reviews. We write Ruby with a bit of React, and we also have iOS and Android apps. We're looking for an experienced developer, but you need not have used these particular tools: we recognise that good programming skills are more than a checklist of languages you already know.

We have a permanent, full-time position available at our central Wellington HQ.
You'll need:

Solid experience in building web applications in an Agile team.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills — you share knowledge with your team and help others level up.

To be a quick and eager learner who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

To enjoy discussions about software design and crafting solutions.

Experience incorporating requirements and feedback from stakeholders with a variety of of professional backgrounds.

To be available to work in central Wellington, or to have experience with working remotely as part of a team (particularly from Christchurch).

NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa. We will consider visa sponsorship.
