The Building Resources and Markets (BRM) Group provides both policy advice and operational functions to ensure efficient infrastructure and resource management as part of a productive and internationally competitive business environment, including the built environment, and stewardship and management of Crown owned resources.

The Business Systems Analyst reports to the Manager Business Systems. The Business Systems Team is responsible for the support and enhancement of the software systems that are used by the Energy and Resource Markets branch to perform the critical business processes systems underpinning the New Zealand's petroleum and minerals permitting regime. 

 

About the role

As the Business Systems Analyst, you will provide Level 2 support for business system users by focusing on complex issues, changes and improvements. Key accountabilities include performing the analysis and resolution of complex issues encountered by users by making system configuration changes, developing simple reports or enlisting suppliers as needed to resolve issues.

Furthermore, you will undertake analysis, design, delivery and testing of enhancements to systems and support users in the translation of business processes into use of, or requirements for changes to, the software systems. This may also include documenting and training users.  There may be opportunities to lead the delivery of large enhancements, working with both internal and external clients to achieve a successful outcome for all.

Your ability to communicate with users at various levels will be critical. In this role you would be responsible for cross branch, group and ministry collaboration on our permitting system configuration, with a focus on providing the best experience for our clients.

A nimble thinker able to handle a high workload and a flexible environment will fit well with the existing team. 

 

Skills and Experience 

  • Relevant Systems Analysis experience
  • Understanding of SDLC and ITIL methodologies
  • Experience working with end users and workflows in a regulatory setting
  • Previous experience involving software development and testing
  • Strong problem solving skills and good judgement skills
  • Strong communications skills ensuring effective interaction with users, stakeholders and suppliers
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant technical discipline - Information Technology or equivalent relevant work experience
