You will participate in a unique opportunity to deliver transformational change in an organisation that has the breadth and diversity of services and capabilities to be considered a mini New Zealand. 

You will join the very busy Knowledge and Information Management Team.  They are managing major projects of digital workplace, data and analytics and document management. 

The specific role is to work with the Chief Data Officer in maturing the operating model and to move to a portfolio construct. 

  • The initial planning work is complete, so the need is to engage a delivery enabler to work from this base to evolve a right-sized portfolio function, built in stages that addresses prioritised and agreed outcomes focused on: 
  • The strategic information projects and initiatives. 
  • Interdependencies with other strategic initiatives across the organisation. 
  • Supporting and coordinating the ongoing establishment of the Information Capability Operating Model. 

This role is expected to deliver (but is not limited to) the following: 

  • Grow, run and evolve the portfolio function on behalf of the Chief Data Officer. 
  • Develop and oversee the portfolio delivery plan and tracking to timelines. 
  • Lead and facilitate risks, issues and dependency management, prioritisation exercises, reports, benefits realisation tracking and decision making across all workstreams. 
  • Lead on managing shared resourcing and capacity planning across workstreams, ensuring the availability of demand and supply information to support decision making. 
  • Provide oversight across workstreams and identify opportunities to consolidate effort and streamline delivery of information capability to enable us to better achieve our purpose. 
  • Ensure the production of required portfolio management outputs and deliverables to the necessary standard of quality and within the specified constraints and tolerances. 
  • Ensure consistent processes and practices are undertaken across project/initiatives and corrective action is taken to address inconsistencies.

To succeed in this role you should have a minimum of ten years’ experience as a portfolio or programme manager and experience developing portfolio or programme frameworks and processes to be fit for purpose for the organisation and context. 

You should also have experience providing oversight and advice, leading initiative dependency management, prioritisation exercises, reports, benefit realisation tracking and decision making, and leading the management of shared resources and capacity planning across projects.
