PLANNING MANAGER - AUCKLAND

Our client has enjoyed over 30 years in business and has an enviable reputation as market leaders dealing primarily with resource management planning, land development engineering design and cadastral surveying to private individuals, local body authorities, companies and developers.

With offices in Auckland and the Waikato, work predominantly encompasses the wider Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Coromandel and Great Barrier Island, specialising in multi-stage greenfield and infill developments, large-scale subdivisions, commercial and industrial developments and land use consents. 

We are seeking an inspiring leader who thrives on a challenge, has exceptional technical capabilities with the ability to enhance the internal operational efficiency of the business.

  • Lead interesting and complex land development, environmental and infrastructure projects
  • Lead, develop and grow a highly successful planning team
  • As a member of the senior management team, you will contribute to the strategic direction of the business and the achievement of existing business objectives.
  • Ensure the planning department meets or exceeds clients expectations
  • Ensure the planning department maintains high standards of safety, excellence and professional ethics
  • Undertake research and preparation of submissions on proposed district/regional plans, privately promoted plan changes and notified resource consent applications on behalf of clients
  • Prepare and present evidence at resource consent, plan change or Environment Court hearings as required
  • Work in a flexible, modern environment within a supportive team

About you:

  • 8+ years' planning experience
  • Ideally experience contributing to the company's strategic planning processes
  • Full NZPI membership
  • Proven experience leading small teams - preferred
  • Enthusiastic and can-do attitude
  • Recognised tertiary qualification
  • Ability to think outside the square and be creative
  • A true desire to shape your own mini-business within a business
  • The desire to progress your career to the next level
  • Positive and proactive work ethic

Ideally, you will have 8+ years of professional experience, a recognised tertiary Resource Management qualification and the desire to lead and develop a successful planning team.
