 We are seeking a very talented Senior Designer to work on a new range of innovative window and door hardware solutions. (Handles, hinges, latches knobs, mechanisms etc), with the aim of creating their own solutions that will be better than anything else on the market.

We are therefore we are looking for someone who is passionate about designing products that are beautiful, practical, functional, precision-engineered and ‘in touch’’ with contemporary architecture and design.

The Role

The main purpose of this role is to design, develop and produce innovative window and door hardware solutions. It will be your job to turn the ideas of what customers want into a finished product.

Reporting to the Group Research & Development Manager, you will be responsible for taking broad, conceptual ideas and turning them into innovative products and solutions for our customers. You will need to be able to align priorities with business strategy and subsequently lead your team to ensure these priorities are met.  As the crucial link between their internal and external customers, your relationship management and communication skills are going to need to be exceptional.

To be a success in this role you will

• Have an Engineering / Product Design based background from hardware, construction or associated industries with significant experience in a Product Development role
• Experience designing for a range of tooling requirements, including aluminum, plastic extrusions, injection moulding and diecasting
• Know what it takes to effectively design, create and bring these products to the market.
• Be customer centric, communicating and understanding exactly what they want into a finished product
• Demonstrate design capability that is both functional an aesthetic
• Have a keen understanding of mechanical design, along with the correct application of design tolerances
• Understanding of manufacturing constraints and will work to develop products to support the effective use of production systems.
• Have an understanding of post prototype information and be able to analyse and problem solve to resolve any product performance issues
• Auto CAD and Solidworks skills are one of your key strengths.
• Be someone who is comfortable and energised thinking at a high level and pace about product strategy, vision and direction. 
• Ideally have had previous people management experience as you will be responsible for managing and developing a small team.
