Mike Greer Homes is New Zealand's largest independent residential construction company with operations throughout the country. With experience across a range of residential developments including standalone, medium density, social and retirement housing, Mike Greer Homes has established itself as the industry leader.
Our Christchurch based Head Office provides a bespoke Design, Working Drawings and Consents service that provide our customers across the country with unique, original and cost effective residential house designs. This internal department currently oversees the delivery of Building Consents for up to 70 residential homes each month. This department provides the wider Group with a competitive advantage in home design for our customers. We are now seeking an experienced Architectural & Design Manager to lead this team.
The Architectural & Design Manager will ideally be a Registered Architect or a proven Architectural Designer who has the necessary leadership and management skills to inspire and develop our valued team of capable designers, technicians and compliance staff. Providing a technically sound environment to innovate and find new ways to deliver our passion and flair is very important for our customers.
In this role you will:
- Manage a cohesive, end to end design function, streamlining team processes from initial concept through to issue of Building Consent;
- Provide positive leadership in support of team objectives and performance that befits a senior positon within MGH;
- Liaise with Branch Managers, Sales Consultants, and your own team to shape and support successful Design, Working Drawings and Consent delivery;
- Continuously improve the level of service performance to internal stakeholders and Mike Greer Homes’ customers;
- Inspire and challenge your people with design visions that excite passion and ownership in the team outcomes;
- Work proactively with construction leadership in each branch to ensure consented plans contain appropriate level of detail and can be built cost effectively;
- Maintain the administrative base for effective cost and performance management;
- Manage the budget for the department ensuring oncharges to branches recover all costs.
About you:
- Ideally a Registered Architect, or qualified and widely experienced designer, with LBP Certification;
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a design role within the NZ environment;
- At least 5 years’ experience managing teams, workflow and outcomes;
- Strong working knowledge of the NZ Building Code and its consent process;
- Experience working with clients and stakeholders;
- Strong leadership, organisational and time management skills, including the ability to meet deadlines, make decisions, follow procedures, foster a positive work environment and to manage own performance.
