It is an exciting time here at Waikato District Council as we experience unprecedented community growth. To support the growth, we are currently looking for an enthusiastic Development Contributions Assessment Officer to join our team.

This position is focused on assessing consent applications against our Development Contribution Policy, calculating the fees that are due and issuing relevant notices. You will be responsible for delivering quality work efficiently and in a professional and courteous manner.

You will work very closely with our Development Contributions Coordinator, especially on challenging developments, and also with our consent processers and DC policy and analytics staff.

This role offers great career pathways in local government and is an opportunity to learn a lot about development contributions and the funding of public infrastructure. This role would suit either a recent graduate or an experienced practitioner.

Key attributes sought for this role include an eye for detail, the ability to interpret plans and to undertake financial calculations. Good time management, communication and organisational skills are essential, as well as experience providing prompt and effective customer service. It is essential that you have a tertiary qualification in economics, finance, planning or similar, and ideally you have experience in a related field. An understanding of development contributions and the Local Government Act are desirable traits.

This is a 40 hour per week role based in Ngaruawahia, a short commute from Hamilton.
