This exciting assignment will see you work alongside two great partner organisations. Train and support staff within Solomon Water and the Solomon Islands Postal Corporation in effective office management systems.
Solomon water is a state-owned enterprise. They believe that safe water will make for a healthy nation. They aim to provide reliable and safe water supply and sewerage services within their area of operation in Solomon Islands.
The Solomon Islands Postal Corporation is also a state-owned enterprise. The Postal Corporation looks to provide a high quality and modern postal service, and other related services, within Solomon Islands and internationally.
The current staff within both organisations have good baseline skills; however, they need on-going support to fulfill the needs of the companies. Your role as the ideal volunteer candidate would be to develop and instill effective office systems and processes to ensure efficient office operations. You will then be responsible for the training and mentorship of the staff in these systems and processes. You also will be responsible for the monitoring and evaluation of the new systems and processes.
We are looking for a volunteer with:
- Office management/administration experience and ability to demonstrate strong organisational skills
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing office management systems and procedures
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Experience coaching and mentoring others in a work environment
- Ability to support office management staff in setting consistent standards and compliance with those standards
This is an 1-year assignment based in the Solomon Islands.

We cover living allowances, accommodation and utilities. Travel, visas, insurance and medical costs are organised and funded by VSA.
Volunteers must be a NZ citizen or permanent resident.
