About the Role

This is a part-time role working three days per week – Wednesdays 5.30pm-8pm, Thursdays from 1-8pm and Saturdays from 7.45-11.15am. You will be responsible for providing quality basketball coaching and refereeing for children (5 -15 years old). Please note that you must have public liability insurance or be prepared to get one at your own cost if you intend to contract for this position. If we decide to on-board you as a YMCA employee you don’t need the insurance.

 

Duties

  • Instruct children’s basketball programme
  • Ensure a quality learning experience for all participants
  • Monitor children’s progression
  • Referee children’s basketball programme

 

Skills and Experience

  • Empathy for children, their development and their cultural background
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Coaching certificate or equivalent qualification or prior experience coaching basketball
  • Experience refereeing and an understanding of sports leagues
  • Current First Aid Certificate
