Detail information about job Environmental Education Coordinator. Terms and conditions vacancy

Are you passionate about connecting people with the environment? Do you have hands on experience designing and delivering environmental education and conservation programmes that engage and inspire communities? If so we invite you to apply for our Environmental Education Coordinator role at Community Waitakere; a community based organisation committed to a vision of thriving connected and sustainable West Auckland Communities.

This role is a unique opportunity for an inspiring and engaging individual to embed themselves within West Auckland communities and share their passion for people and the environment. This role will support the development of new environmental initiatives, issues, local species, local people and local places interwoven with Mātauranga Māori.

You will be leading schools, community groups and volunteers out into local parks and reserves and teaching about the unique ecology in those spaces. You will assist groups to understand how they can actively participate in their local areas through citizen science, native planting, pest control and any other ways you wish to bring to the table.  You will also work with other stakeholders and coordinate collaborative community events.

Through these activities you will actively promote the work to the wider community, and support new initiatives that develop along the way. You will be part of a team who are passionate about working with people, and an organisation with a strong reputation for high quality work.

A relevant tertiary qualification is required (teaching, environmental sciences)). You will have a sound understanding of the bi-cultural foundation of Aotearoa and the ability to work in an inclusive, collaborative way which honours Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Due to the nature of the role a police background check will be carried out for succesful candidate
