King Avocado is New Zealand’s largest avocado growing operation. We grow and manage all supply logistics directly to supermarkets and food service customers across Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

King Avocado strives for excellence in all aspects of production, yield and quality, putting the operation at the forefront within the industry.

Due to recent growth, we are now seeking an aspiring professional looking to build their career in line with previously achieved tertiary qualifications to join senior management of the orchard.
  
About the role

In this newly created role, as an Operations Manager, your primary focus will involve day to day management of staff and orchard operations, including:  

• overseeing the running of a team of people both permanent and a large seasonal workforce in all aspects of orchard horticulture
• maximising the efficiency of day to day orchard operations within budget
• ensuring the successful seasonal horticultural activities lead to a top-quality avocado product year on year
• monitoring performance factors of field technicians and instigating corrective actions as appropriate in liaison with the Compliance Manager
• strong participation in developing and implementing the overall orchard plan
• understanding plant and soil test reports.
• occupational health and safety and compliance.

  
About you
  
As an integral member of the team, you will fully participate in the decisions needed to keep King Avocado as a leading Avocado orchard.  You’ll showcase your credibility through your personal confidence, steely determination along with your technical know-how.

Experience with Avocados is not required but an enthusiasm to learn, develop and grow about this rewarding crop will be. 
  
Your strengths for this position will be diverse, and could include:

• Well-grounded experience with and knowledge of irrigated horticultural crops
• Ability to supervise and manage staff
• A strong understanding of farm machinery operation and maintenance
• Comfort with using and adopting new technology
• Relevant tertiary qualifications.
