Hamilton is known for its natural environment, with street and park trees an important feature of the city scape.

Hamilton City Council’s City Parks team is responsible for the physical work on those trees, and is in the market for an Arborist to join our crew.

The role includes the maintenance of established trees across the city, one-off tree removals, routine pruning and the planting of new specimens.

We're after a committed and enthusiastic parks or tree work professional with a recognised arboriculture qualification, relevant experience and competence with the tools of the arboriculture trade. Health and safety is an important part of this role and you’ll need to demonstrate you have a high level of understanding for keeping yourself, your workmates and the public safe while you are on the job.

Our unit is a tight-knit team and we need someone who works well alongside other parks professionals.  You need to be able to communicate clearly and effectively with your colleagues, and collaborate with your peers to meet deadlines and complete work schedules.

If you are able to work in a team environment with high expectations of behaviour and have experience in urban tree work this is the role for you. The recruiting range for this role is from $53,500 to $57,000 per annum, based on knowledge, skills and experience.

The Council is committed to being a high-performance organisation with people who think differently, act with integrity, make it happen and work together.

This is your chance to be part of an organisation that is committed to building a stronger economy and a more attractive city for families through the delivery of the Hamilton Plan.

All candidates will be notified of the outcome on their application via email. Short-listed candidates may be required to complete an interview process, reference checks, pre-employment medical and drug assessments and Ministry of Justice or Police vetting check.
