  • Fixed term role for 3 years

This is a fixed term role for three (3) years.

 

Are you a great team member who is passionate about working with communities to grow understanding and increase conservation outcomes?

We have a vacancy available for a Community Ranger to join our team in Turangi. 

 

As Concessions/Iwi Liaison Ranger, you will be responsible for;

  • Leading consultation with Iwi and Stakeholders for Concessions and Statutory Authorisations, and maintaining and enhancing those relationships
  • Coordinating implementation of Treaty Settlement outcomes and obligations
  • Supporting other team members with Iwi engagement and building new partnership opportunities with Tangata Whenua

 

The ideal applicant will have:

  • Good knowledge of Tikanga Māori, Kaitiakitanga, Wairuatanga, Manākitanga, and Iwitanga
  • A tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in either project management OR working with community groups, Iwi or businesses
  • Good understanding of legislation, policy and processes that guide conservation work
  • Good understanding of concerns and aspirations of Tangata Whenua and Iwi in relation to conservation and treaty settlement
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Leadership skills and ability to think strategically
  • Ability to work as part of a small community team and be involved as a member of the wider District Team

 

Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment if applying internationally.
