The Northland area is an outdoor paradise with white sandy beaches, stunning kauri forests, friendly people and wonderful summers. Whangarei is a great base for Northland. Housing is well priced with all the commercial support that a small city requires. We have a thriving community who are very supportive of our work.

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic Supervisor Recreation /Historic to join our Operations team in Whangarei. Our Area extends from Mangawhai in the south to Russell forest in the north. We have a wide range of facilities including camp grounds, back country huts, day visitor tracks and historical sites that have high tourist use.

 

The Supervisor in this role will capable of managing and leading a team of talented individuals to deliver the recreation and historic work plan.  Health and Safety is the highest priority for you. You must be a great team person and have a proven ability to work collaboratively with others.  In this Supervisor position, you need to have an eye for detail and plenty of drive and initiative.

 

With the rise in visitor numbers we are looking for a person who has interest in tourism and how our facilities reflect the great experience we would like our visitors to have. You will be actively working across a range of different visitor experience and facility upgrade projects including:

  • facilities maintenance and site restoration across an extensive network of tracks, huts and structures, and
  • working with staff, community and volunteers.

 

The successful applicant will ideally have:

  • experience in leading staff and a staff first focus
  • a strong commitment to safety and wellbeing in the work place
  • experience in scheduling an effective work programme
  • a minimum of 3-4 years' experience in management of visitor facilities and/or historic assets.
  • skills in coaching, training and supporting staff to acquire technical knowledge and experience
  • An understanding of building techniques
