About the business

We are a mixed practice Veterinary Clinic that has a large client base.  We currently have nine nurses in the small animal team and a large number of vets that work in both the small animal and large animal teams.  We all get on really well and often socialise together outside of work.

About the role

We need a small animal Veterinary Nurse who:

Can perform most tasks required of a veterinary nurse to a high standard and explain the techniques to less experienced nurses.

The role will include (but not be limited to):

Monitoring and medicating hospital patients, setting up surgery, monitoring anaesthetics, discharging patients, performing nurse consultations, assisting the consulting vets, taking blood and urine samples and running tests.  IV catheterisation and IV fluid therapy set up and triaging emergencies.  We also have a new physiotherapy and rehabilitation unit and the nurses run the physio sessions.

We are looking to cover maternity leave but there is a high chance of continued work for the right individual.

Benefits and perks

We work hard to support our nurses.  You will be able to develop your own areas of special interest as we are always open to new ideas and supporting continual education.  We will pay for your NZVNA membership and give you a lot of on the job training and development so that you have a great level of job satisfaction.

Skills and experience

You will preferably have at least three years experience working as a qualified veterinary nurse, though a less experienced Vet Tech would be considered.  You will be confident with all aspects of veterinary nursing, both the practical aspects as well as the theory.
