Hours: 8 hours per week during term time, and potentially more during school holidays
Location: SPCA Wellington Centre, Newtown, Wellington
The Wellington centre of the SPCA are recruiting energetic and engaging people to support its community engagement programmes. As Animal Crew Support, you will help the centre achieve its mission by helping to deliver animal based programmes while building positive relationships within our community in the process.
The ideal candidate for this position will have previous experience working with both animals and children, the ability to communicate clearly, strong time management skills, a positive attitude, as well as the ability to analyse situations and develop appropriate solutions to challenges that arise. Applicants must not have pending or current criminal convictions and must hold and maintain a current full New Zealand drivers license.
It will be your responsibility to help with:
- Supporting the delivery of community engagement based 'Animal Crew' programmes and activities, including birthday parties, animal crew weekend events and animal crew school holiday programmes and off-site events, including Animal Therapy visits.
- Animal Crew programmes and activities throughout the week with many events falling on Saturdays and Sundays with some evening work as well.
- The community engagement programme is essential to achieving long term positive outcomes for the animals in our community. Animal crew programmes are an integral part of the programme, increasing the accessibility of the messages and also helping fund the overall community engagement programme.
The role is intended to support members of the community engagement team in delivering programmes, maximising the usage of available room capacity, and generating income to support the animals.
This position is a casual position that will include on-call work based on the demand for the service.
