Fixed Term Position
Surf Life Saving Northern Region (SLSNR) is a high profile, not for profit organisation and is the lead provider of aquatic rescue and education services in the area from Raglan to Kaitaia through the services of its 17 volunteer surf lifesaving clubs in the area of beach safety, education and sporting activities.
An essential part of Surf Life Saving Northern Region’s drowning and injury prevention strategy is delivered through the organisations three Community Education Programmes: Beach Education, Surf to School and City Nippers. The programmes focus on essential beach and water safety skills and are attended by 15,000 school children every year.
SLSNR have a vacancy for the position of Community Education Supervisor. The role is a fixed term position from 01 August 2018 to 29 March 2019 based at the Marine Rescue Centre in Mechanics Bay, Auckland with regular site visits.
Core responsibilities include, assisting the Community Education Manager in the recruitment process, training and induction of the Education Team; establishing venue agreements; establishing and maintaining the staff roster; continuous monitoring, review and improvement process of programmes and instructors; updating websites/social media; managing booking system; communication with schools, parents, Surf Life Saving Clubs and Community Education Instructors.
You will possess the following skills and experience:
- Leadership
- Strategic thinking and problem solving
- Understanding of curriculum based learning
- Ability to develop learning outcomes for a wide range of educational settings
- Experience supervising teams or individuals, and reviewing performance
- Ability to build relationships and communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other systems
- An awareness of the role that Surf Life Saving plays within the community
- Energy and enthusiasm
- Good organisation and time management
- Teaching experience would be an asset
- A full driver license
- NZ citizenship/permanent residency
