About Child Matters
Child Matters is a non-profit charitable organisation and private training establishment that has been providing guidance, advice, education, consultation and support since 1994.
In New Zealand child protection training is not mandatory for professionals or volunteers who work with children and young people. Child Matters exists to upskill those working and interacting with children, young people and their families so they are able to identify risks relating to vulnerability and abuse, and have the knowledge and confidence to take appropriate action.
Teaching all sectors of our community how to protect our tamariki is essential to reducing abuse and neglect in New Zealand.
About the position
Reporting to our National Services Manager, a Child Protection Consultant is responsible for the development, delivery and evaluation of child protection education throughout New Zealand, and the provision of child protection advisory and consulting services.
About the successful applicant
The successful applicant will have a strong commitment to the paramountcy of children and young people and will be able to relate well to colleagues, students, and the community. A tertiary qualification in a relevant child protection field and experience in adult teaching is preferred. You will need flexibility and be able to undertake a variety of projects at a time. You will have skills in programme design and delivery, and be able to confidently manage group dynamics. You will be able to use your initiative and work independently, managing your own time and responsibilities.
About what’s on offer
In this role, you will travel throughout New Zealand delivering a range of child protection education services to professionals and the community. You will be part of a team of likeminded individuals and will have the chance to work in a team dedicated to making a difference for children and young people.
