The New Zealand AIDS Foundation (NZAF), who’s been at the forefront of HIV prevention in New Zealand for the past 30 years is building upon its ENDING HIV campaign which aims to build a strong community movement that inspires and empower Takatāpui, gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (MSM)* to take action to end new HIV transmissions in New Zealand.

This role is responsible for spearheading the NZAF Community Engagement in the mobilisation of Takatāpui and other Māori MSM. This will involve building strong relationships with community stakeholders and working across the organisation to ensure that these perspectives are included in operational decision making.

This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to leverage their existing experience in community engagement to deliver programs that engage, involve and empower Takatāpui and other Māori MSM to make informed choices around their health and sexual health.

You will have a sophisticated understanding of the ENDING HIV social movement, including the roles of condoms, PrEP, testing often and early treatment for preventing HIV transmission.  You will be have competence and a demonstrated interest in Tikanga and Te reo. You’ll need to have highly developed skills in health promotion, be able to quickly build strong collaborative working relationships and to problem solve outside the box.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage Takatāpui Tane and other Māori MSM in the key messages of the Ending HIV campaigns through activities and events,
  • Ensure Takatāpui Tane and other Māori MSM have referral pathways into culturally appropriate PLHIV supports
  • Mobilise Takatāpui Tane and other Māori MSM Ending HIV Volunteers and/or Ambassadors to participate in Community Engagement events and activations where possible
  • Develop and maintain relevant stakeholder relationships

NZAF offers a competitive compensation package with a salary of $57,272- $63,635 pro rata and benefits including one week of additional employer holidays on top of the minimum four weeks annual leave, and flexible work hours.
