With over 300 employees and around 6,000 volunteers the Blind Foundation is New Zealand's leading provider of services and support to people who are blind or have low vision. One of New Zealand's most trusted and iconic Not for Profit organisations, we need a Puppy Placement and Development Manager to join us. You will help the organisation achieve our vision of a "life without limits" for New Zealanders who are blind or who have low vision.

Based at our Guide Dog Services unit in Manurewa, this role leads our Puppy Development Programme and a team of Puppy Development Advisors. You will be responsible for ensuring the success of our Puppy Development Programme which focuses on the development of healthy, temperamentally sound and safe guide dogs for our blind and low vision clients. This role also has responsibility for ensuring that our volunteer puppy raisers have the training and support they require to deliver the best outcomes for the puppies on the programme.

Experience in the Guide Dog or canine behaviour field, as well as experience working with/managing people is necessary.

What we are looking for:

  • A qualification in Guide Dog Training from an IDGF accredited organisation
  • Significant experience in managing and leading a team
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with attention to customer service and relationship building
  • An innovative thinker and a change champion
  • Current drivers licence or designated driver
  • Ability to travel within New Zealand as required

A qualification in animal husbandry, veterinary services, breeding services, and/or dog handling would be an advantage.
