About us:

The Children’s Team is a part of the recently formed Oranga Tamariki – the  Ministry  dedicated to supporting children in New Zealand  that includes the previous Child Youth and Family Service.

About the role:

The Marlborough Children’s Team have an exciting fixed term  opportunity for a Team Coordinator to join their business unit. A key member of the team, the primary focus  is to provide on-going support to agency workers who are delivering a coordinated response to children and their whānau. We are a small  team who work closely with our Social Sector Partner Agencies,  and so  confidence in building and maintaining relationships with all our key stakeholders is fundamental to the role.

The Children's Team Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • managing the referral and case management system and providing regular reports to the Children's Team Director
  • supporting Lead Professionals who provide face-to-face contact with tamariki and their whānau
  • coordinating meetings, service response and other activities required to support Children's Teams for tamariki and their whānau.

To be successful in this role you will require the following:

  • a collaborative approach to relationship management
  • an understand of a child-centred, whānau-led approach, based on a comprehensive model of assessment
  • a proactive approach to  developing and maintain new processes, with a pragmatic solution focus
  • the ability to work with sensitive/ confidential information and manage ambiguous situations
  • a working knowledge of administration tasks and word processing skills
  • an able to multi task a range of activities with  attention to detail
  • be highly organised with strong time management skills
  • bring strong communication and interpersonal and facilitation skills
  • a practice background in a Health, Education, or the Social Services would be an advantage.
