About the Role

Serco has extended its portfolio in Asia Pacific with the Auckland South Corrections Facility (ASCF) in New Zealand opened in Wiri, South Auckland in 2015. It is a state of the art facility, operated on behalf of the NZ Department of Corrections, providing a safe and secure environment for over 900 prisoners.

Serco is looking for a passionate, results-driven Case Manager to work alongside prisoners to identify and address the factors that led to their offending. 

In this role, you will be working face-to-face with a case load of prisoners to assess their needs and develop a plan of the services and support they will receive in prison and on release.  You will work alongside a wide range of professionals, including custodial staff, psychologists, program facilitators, whanau liaison officers, teachers and tutors, community providers and health staff to ensure the plan is delivered.

  

Key Accountabilities

  • Assess  the  needs  of  allocated  prisoners  using  specialist  assessment  tools 
  • Identify the risk, rehabilitation and re-integrative needs of prisoners
  • Develop  a  Prisoner  Management  Plan  for  allocated  prisoners 
  • Brief  Reintegration  Officers  on  Prisoner Management Plans
  • Chair case conferences to agree and review Prisoner Management Plans
  • Actively  monitor  delivery  of  the  Prisoner  Management  Plans
  • Encourage  prisoner  motivation  through  the  use  of  techniques  and  tools
  • Regularly review Prisoner Management Plans in accordance with practice standards
  • Ensure that required Parole Board reports are provided in a timely manner and meet the required standard
  • Monitor NZ Parole Board decisions and ensure all necessary post-Parole Board actions are completed
  • Develop  Transition  Offender  Plans  facilitating effective and constructive relationships with Probation Officers

Essential Requirements

  • Background in rehabilitative services, allied health services, psychology, or social work
  • Knowledge and experience of working with Maori and Pasifika people
  • Tertiary qualification would be desirable
  • Knowledge and experience of case management  and/or rehabilitation and reintegration practice
  • Knowledge of factors impacting on offending
  • Exposure to the Criminal Justice System or similar human services
  • Community  engagement,  key  stakeholder  liaison and working  with  special  interest groups particularly in the criminal justice system
  • Demonstrated  understanding  of  the  Treaty  of  Waitangi,  its  principles  and  related contemporary issues
  • Understanding  of,  and  the  ability  to  apply  Tikanga  Māori  in  the  contract  prison environment
  • Demonstrated  understanding  of  the  concept  of  Kaupapa  and  its  application  to  the contracts prison
