Detail information about job Operations Manager. Terms and conditions vacancy

The focus of this role is to create a supportive home environment for adult service-users; nutritious food, cultural and social opportunities, high standards of service

We invite applications for an Operations Manager for Hohepa Kapiti. You will be responsible for supporting people with intellectual disabilities to live as independently as possible; you will lead a team of Support Workers.

This is a full time (40 hours per week) role, but definitely not a ‘9-5’ job. The role can be busy and demanding, but also fulfilling and very rewarding as you journey alongside people with disabilities and support their development.

You must:

  • Have a keen interest in working with people with intellectual disabilities, displaying empathy and respect, and the ability to enable people to achieve their goals and plans.
  • Have good communication skills, able to communicate clearly and appropriately with a range of people (in person and in writing - includes computer use).
  • Be willing and support and engage with the community life of Hohepa, and to put the principles of Social Therapy into practice in your work (based on the teachings of Dr Rudolf Steiner - training will be provided).
  • Be trustworthy and have high ethical standards, able to respect confidentiality and privacy.
  • Have experience managing staff, budgets and other related operations to ensure quality care and support to the residents.
  • Be drug free, prepared not to smoke during work hours and willing to declare any convictions.
  • Be fit for the physical and emotional aspects of the role, especially in relation to challenging behaviours and behaviour management of service users.
  • Have the skills to create a home as a place of beauty and security; and an excellent understanding of cooking and nutrition (with ability to plan menus using biodynamic/organic ingredients and to meet dietary needs).
  • Have the right to work in New Zealand.
