Intensive Support Services – (ISS) Otahuhu base:

We have a range of roles available at our Otahuhu site, please ensure you state which role(s) you are applying for:

Full Time position (male only due to Care and Rehabilitation Plans):
Permanent position
40 hours per week, Monday – Friday; 8.00 am – 4.00pm
Salary Range: $19.80 – $24.50 per hour (depending on skills/experience and qualification level)

Casual positions (male only due to Care and Rehabilitation Plans):
Casual positions are on an as/when needed basis
Hours between: Monday – Friday, 8:30am - 3:00pm
Salary Range: $19.80 – $24.50 per hour (depending on skills/experience and qualification level)
+ 8% holiday pay in addition to wages

We are looking for individuals to join our committed team in the field of Intellectual/Dual Disability with High and Complex needs.

Experience working with Intellectual Disability and complex behavioral needs is an advantage, as is having an understanding of what “Life Skills and Day Services” aim to achieve.

However, as you will be supporting extremely challenging clients, having superb people skills, the right attitude, negotiation and problem solving skills and a willingness to learn are necessary qualities to be successful in the role.

Expectations of this role include community support of individual and groups of clients as well as facilitation of day and life skills programmes.

Intensive Support do have core programmes that run every term, however the successful applicant(s) will be responsible for the design, delivery and evaluation of quality programmes.

Casual employees support permanent employees with facilitation but generally do not design or run programmes.

The goal of our service is to provide clients with a sense of identity, self confidence and practical skills to lead successful lives within the community of their choice.

Essential Criteria:

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Exceptional people skills, the ability to network and negotiate
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Understanding of and/or experience in disability support services
  • A commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi and culturally safe practice
  • A current clean Full New Zealand Drivers Licence
  • Eligibility to work in New Zealand

Desirable criteria:

  • Experience working with Intellectual Disability and/or complex behavioral needs
  • An understanding of what “Life Skills and Day Services” aim to achieve
  • Supporting/training or teaching and aiding clients in achieving their goals
  • A Level 4 certificate in Health and Wellbeing or an equivalent qualification
