Hamilton City Community Ministries offers a wide range of community services to people from various ethnicities and backgrounds which enable individuals, families and whanau to be resourced, equipped and supported through their unique life circumstances.

To complement our current services, we are looking for a Whanau Worker to provide interventions to parents and work in partnership to strengthen their parental capacity and family relationships. This position is for 25 hours/week.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • an ability to work sensitively and appropriately from a cross-cultural perspective
  • an understanding of theoretical frameworks essential to building resilience and overcoming adversity
  • an ability to work collaboratively with other colleagues
  • excellent communication (oral, written and listening) and interpersonal skills
  • excellent organisational, time management and self-care skills
  • excellent administrative skills and competency in standard Microsoft office applications and databases
  • an alignment to the principles of the mission, goals and overall objectives of Hamilton City Salvation Army at all times.

This role requires a qualification in Social Sciences and/or direct experience of working with families with complex needs who typically find it difficult to engage with services/counselling.
