Kahungunu ki Tāmaki nui-a-Rua Trust was established in 1997 as one of the six Taiwhenua of Ngāti Kahungunu. Kahungunu ki Tāmaki nui-a-Rua Trust is an Iwi organisation mandated by the people and holds a clear vision ‘to have a thriving community with strong and trusted leadership, building a better future for Kahungunu peoples, all Māori, all Iwi, and all peoples in the Tāmaki nui-a-Rua rohe’.

Kahungunu ki Tāmaki nui-a-Rua Trust are seeking a Pou Reo to lead the implementation of their te reo Strategy – Kahungunu ki Tāmaki nui-a-Rua Te Reo Strategy & Implementation Plan 2017-2032. This exciting and dynamic role involves leading the co-ordination, management and implementation of our te reo Strategy and will see you developing and hosting reo wānanga and reo resources to aid te reo proficiency for whānau in the Tāmaki nui-a-Rua rohe.

Applicants must be proficient in te reo Māori me ōna tikanga and be familiar with teaching methods. This is a fixed-term, 12-month role commencing in July 2018.

·     Me mahi ā-rōpū

Ngā wheako me ngā tohu mātauranga:

·     Me matatau ki te reo Māori me ōna tikanga

·     Me mau raihana hautū waka matua, he hāmene-kore hoki

·     Ko te painga atu ki te mārama ki ngā tikanga me te reo o Ngāti Kahungunu

·     Ka whai hua ngā tohu mātauranga ā-wānanga, heoi, ehara i te mea me mātua mau

He mea noho tēnei tūranga Pou Reo ki te tari ki Tāmaki nui-a-Rua, ka mutu, me mātua takahi haere te rohe o Ngāti Kahungunu. 

This Pou Reo position is located in the Dannevirke office and will require travel throughout the Ngāti Kahungunu rohe.

To be successful in this role, the applicant will need to:

  • Demonstrate a high level of reo proficiency
  • Be an exceptional communicator and be able to comfortably and effectively engage at different levels and with a range of individuals, whānau and organisations
  • Be able to build and maintain relationships with whānau, hapori and hapū
  • Be able to handle multiple competing activities and be able to prioritise and plan activities to deliver outcomes
  • Be familiar with teaching methods
  • Be computer literate and competent in MS Office
  • Be a team player

Hours will be full time (40 hours per week flexible).
