The University of Otago and the Southern District Health Board are recruiting for a specialist Neurosurgeon to take up a full-time joint academic and clinical position within the University of Otago and Dunedin Hospital.

Academic Component (0.5 FTE)

For your academic duties you will be based in the Section of Neurosurgery within the Department of Surgical Sciences, Dunedin School of Medicine. You will be appointed to the position of Senior Lecturer.

You will have prior experience in teaching and research,and would be responsible for teaching at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Alongside teaching you will have unlimited opportunities for laboratory and clinically based research.

Clinical Component (0.5 FTE)

The Senior Lecturer in Neurosurgery will also be funded by the Southern District Health Board to undertake clinical duties. These clinical duties are based at Dunedin Hospital, a 388 bed university Hospital providing care for a population of approximately 300,000 spread over a large area of the lower South Island of New Zealand.

The successful candidate will have specialist qualifications in Neurosurgery and be eligible for vocational registration in New Zealand. A postgraduate academic qualification and experience in research and teaching are essential.
