Te Waananga o Aotearoa is one of New Zealand's largest tertiary education providers offering a comprehensive range of certificate to degree level qualifications to New Zealanders of all ages and walks of life.
We are seeking a creative, motivated and enthusiastic kaiako (tutor) to facilitate our Secondary Tertiary Programme in Building and Construction, designed for senior secondary school students. The position is highly mobile with delivery being held mainly in Whakatane and Tauranga, and occasionally in various areas of the Waikato.
The primary function of the Kaiako Secondary Tertiary Programme is to teach secondary school tauira a Secondary Tertiary Programme (STP) which is specifically designed for 15 - 17 year olds. Teaching involves but is not limited to developing lesson plans, presenting material to tauira, responding to tauira learning needs, assessing and evaluating tauira progress.
Qualifications required for this position include:
- Diploma Level 5/6 in a related field
- Level 5 teaching qualification
- NCALNE Level 5, including unit standards 4098, 11281,18203
- A full New Zealand driver’s licence (P class preferred)
Applicants will have 2-3 years’ work experience teaching youth with proven success and positive outcomes for rangatahi. Applicants will also have experience teaching building and construction.
This position is classed as a Core Worker under the Vulnerable Children’s Act and will need to pass a safety check under the Vulnerable Children’s Act 2014.
