The Campbell Institute is currently looking for an enthusiastic Student Activities Coordinator to join our hardworking and supportive team, to deliver social and fun activities for our international students, who are here to learn English and experience all that New Zealand has to offer.
This is a part time position (25-30 hours per week) with a combination of some fixed hours and some flexibility. It involves work during the week and often during the weekends too, including a number of overnight trips across the year.
Key responsibilities include
- Planning, coordinating and delivering a weekly calendar of tailored social activities, sporting activities and events
- Publicising and advertising the events and activities to the student body
- Supporting the Marketing Team by collecting, providing and publishing content from activities through social media and marketing channels
Key competencies include
- Ability to deliver highly successful social activities for students.
- Ability to plan and conduct a series of events and to manage an events calendar.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate to large groups of people effectively, in particular speakers of languages other than English.
- Enthusiasm and creative thinking
- Attention to detail and excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to plan, develop and publish social media or digital content
Minimum requirements
- Native-English-speaker competency
- The right to work in New Zealand
- University-level qualification in education, physical education, tourism or related field
- Availability to travel outside of Wellington in weekends, and for overnight trips from time to time
Preferred
- Experience with application of health and saftey standards and processes
- Current first-aid certificate
- Experience with international students
- Experience in programme organisation and delivery
- Experience in a position of responsibility
- Experience in pastoral care of students
- Enthusiam for outdoor activities and adventure
- A strong knowledge of the Wellington region and environs
Other desirable areas of expertise may include
- Teaching experience
- Ability to speak a second language
