Applications are invited for a permanent, full-time Lectureship/Senior Lectureship in Science Communication within the School of English and Media Studies. Secondary areas of expertise are open, but demonstrated versatility in one or more of the following areas will be an advantage: digital rhetoric/digital literacies, digital humanities, academic writing, digital media studies, and/or creative writing will be an advantage.

The position will be based either at Massey's Auckland or Manawatu campus in New Zealand. The level of appointment will depend on qualifications and experience. A start date of mid January 2019 is preferred but alternative start dates will be considered.

The successful applicant will be expected to take primary responsibility for current first-year undergraduate writing courses for information sciences, engineering and food technology students, and to teach into one or more courses in technical or professional writing for second- and third-year students. In addition, the successful applicant will support undergraduate writing courses in the sciences and humanities and social sciences, and contribute to the future development of writing and literacy studies within the School at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The School of English and Media Studies has a strong record in teaching excellence and pastoral care in an interactive learning environment with a diverse student body. The School teaches courses in on-campus and distance learning modes, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The successful applicant will have a completed PhD at the time of application. University teaching experience, academic publications and other evidence of ongoing research activity will be expected.
