This is a full-time permanent position based in Palmerston North or New Plymouth.

An awesome opportunity has arisen for dynamic and innovative education professional to join our fantastic regional team. This is a unique opportunity to play a part in championing 21st century teaching and learning and positively influencing change in schools and kura.

This role will give you the opportunity to directly work with Communities of Learning - Kāhui Ako, Boards of Trustees and senior leaders on strengthening education performance.

You will also be responsible for providing professional and technical leadership for school network activities at a regional level that includes enrolment schemes, maximum roll increases, integrated schools and the impact of population growth/decline.

Your key priorities will include the following:

  • Working with Communities of Learning - Kāhui Ako individual kura/ schools to significantly improve their student achievement and the systems and infrastructure that support this
  • Using detailed analysis of schools/kura performance and student achievement to influence change and maximise education outcomes for students
  • Brokering support for schools/ kura where potential is identified - this may include building capability and strengthening governance and management, regulatory compliance, curriculum, monitoring and assessment, student and whānau, family and community engagement

To be successful in this role you will need to be an exceptional communicator with proven skills in building and managing strong, effective relationships.

You will also have the following:

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work with student achievement and demographic data
  • An understanding of the relevance of identity, language and culture for Māori, Pacific people and students with special education needs
  • Successful experience working with school leaders, Boards of Trustees or Communities of Learning - Kāhui Ako to strengthen school practice and raise student achievement
  • Strategic planning, project design and implementation skills
  • Strengths in influencing and working through others where direct reporting relationships do not exist
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
