Future Skills Academy is a private tertiary education provider located in Manukau, specialising in foundation and vocational training from Level 3 to Level 6. We are seeking a suitably qualified and skilled Academic Manager with several years educational leadership experience, to lead our academic team.
As the Academic Manager you will be directly accountable for the educational quality and service delivery of learning and teaching at Future Skills, ensuring that high standards are maintained. You will provide professional leadership and management of academic staff and ensure they have the capabilities necessary for teaching. You will work closely with the Operations Manager on the marketing, recruitment and enrolment activities for the programmes for which you are responsible. An important part of the role will involve building and maintaining solid relationships with key stakeholders, both at strategic and operational level.
The key accountabilities of the role include:
- Creating a positive learner-centric environment, supportive of a quality educational experience, with high student and staff engagement;
- Providing visible day-to-day leadership and management of the academic team;
- Ensuring Future Skills meets its educational performance indicators and annual targets;
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders
Importantly, you will have a relevant qualification in education and a track record of successful educational leadership and management in a New Zealand tertiary context. You will have an understanding of foundation education challenges and requirements, specifically YG, SAC1 & 2, and experience in working with trades and foundation programmes. You will have an empathy with, and good understanding of the challenges faced by people of low socio-economic and low education background. First and foremost, you will be a genuine leader who has the interpersonal and people skills to create a positive culture in which staff are motivated to go the extra mile to meet the needs of our learners.
Additionally, we are looking for someone who has a passion for education, and who has a demonstrated track record of achieving quality and associated academic performance targets.
