About the centre
This centre is licensed for 30 children from 2-5 years old. The learning programme is based on Te Whāriki, Montessori practices and Christian values. The children enjoy a positive relationship with each other and are keen to learn. They have access to various resources and an outdoor learning environment. The teachers have started to introduce te reo Māori into routines recognising the children’s culture.
About the role
As a teacher, you will work closely alongside the children. You will be responsible for the children’s wellbeing and development. You will observe, keep portfolios and plan activities accordingly. You’ll help to plan and carry out the curriculum, plan activities to develop the children’s talents and skills, and ensure the children are school ready by the time they leave the centre. In this role there is a possibility to grow through to become second in charge.
To be succesful you need to have:
- Bachelor of Early Childhood Teaching (or equal)
- Valid practising certificate issues by the Education Council
- A friendly and engaging personality
- Preferably the ability to start as soon as possible
