Programme Coordinator  Kiwi Can (30 hrs/pw) – Waikato

The Graeme Dingle Foundation is a leader in the field of Youth Development in New Zealand and provides young people with the opportunity to build self-confidence and learn valuable life skills by participating in a number of unique developmental programmes including  'Kiwi Can'. The Kiwi Can programme is licenced to be delivered across the country and the programme coordinator would have access to a network of coordinators and the National Support Office.

Waikato Youth Empowerment Trust (operating as The Graeme Dingle Foundation- Waikato) is based in Hamilton and delivers these programmes in the Waikato Region specifically Hamilton, Huntly and Tokoroa. GDF Waikato has strong programme growth plans through to 2020 and expects to deliver in new Waikato communities in coming years. 

The purpose of the role is to provide leadership and coordination of the primary school based programme - Kiwi Can, across the Waikato. The Programme Coordinator - Kiwi Can is responsible for leading a team of up to 9 staff across the region to develop and become a team of excellence and to drive quality delivery of the Kiwi Can programme with proven outcomes.  A key focus is on developing a team of excellence, strong stakeholder satisfaction, development and management of key relationships across a broad spectrum of community partners and schools.

This is an exciting role with opportunity to further develop your leadership skills within a supportive and driven organisation focused on continuous improvement and excellent programme delivery.  

The Programme Coordinator - Kiwi Can reports to the Programme Manager and direct reports include Kiwi Can Leaders (9).

The ideal candidate will be a pro-active and effective leader with experience in team leadership and relationship management, have well developed communication skills and experience engaging with people from a wide range of cultures as well as plenty of drive, energy and initiative.  

Ideally you will have:

  • Previous experience in school based youth development programmes in delivery and/or management aspects
  • High levels of attention to detail
  • Excellent relationship management skills
  • Well developed communication skills
  • Experience in staff management
  • Well developed written skills including experience in writing press releases, newsletters and formal letters.
  • An ability to work with moderate to high autonomy (Full drivers license is required )
  • Passion for the plight of youth in New Zealand and wanting to make a positive difference.
  • Very high personal standards, commitment to continuous improvement and achieving personal excellence in the work place.
