The role:
The role of Leading Hand Dispensary is to oversee any repacking requirements by coordinating the acceptance sampling of ingredients and repacking these in accordance with the blending program. They will also be responsible for the inventory management, procurement and issuing of factory consumables. The Leading Hand Dispensary must follow all plant standard operating procedures, carry out instructions as detailed in the risk management plan and adhere to the quality system. All plant activities must be conducted in a manner that ensures compliance with relevant legislation and codes of practice at all times.

Day to day responsibilities include:
  • Overseeing all plant dispensary requirements to ensure operational KPI's around dispensed ingredients product are met. 
  • Supporting the plant and the production team in meeting operational targets.
  • Overseeing and adhering to quality systems and operating procedures.
  • Supervising the day to day activities of Dispensary staff.
  • Participating in continuous improvement activities and DGC's Food Safety Programme. 
  • Leading and contributing to a positive health and safety culture.
  • The position currently involves a roster pattern that is 5 on / 2 off, 8 hours (days, afternoons and nights) rotating through 6 days of the week. It also has the flexibility to move to other roster patterns, up to and including 7 day rotating patterns.

Key skills and experience required:
  • Supportive team member who is flexible, adaptable and self-motivated.
  • Prior experience supervising and training staff is advantageous. 
  • Collaborative and communicative.
  • Proactive, can-do attitude.
  • Excellent planning, organising and problem solving capability.
  • Technical skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Physically fit with a high level of personal hygiene.
  • Prior experience in a critical hygiene environment within a highly regulated food industry.
  • Attention to detail and quality focused.
