Mataura Valley Milk is building the “World’s Best Nutritional Business” and has committed more than $240 million of investment that is securing the engagement of cutting edge technology combined with best in class skills, processes and systems. Based on the outskirts of Gore MVM is on track to begin producing premium high value nutritional products for both domestic and export markets this year.
The purpose-built plant will initially provide employment for 75 fulltime staff, to produce 30000 metric tonne of premium product per year from 500,000 litres of milk processed per day. The Procurement function is critical to MVM’s nutritional supply chain with the ability to have a major and positive influence on the quality and cost of the end product whilst enabling ‘The world’s best nutritional business’.
MVM are establishing their Procurement team starting with the Management role. In conjunction with establishing the procurement framework, you will also develop the overarching strategic plan together with the tools that will measure your team’s effectiveness and ensure continuity of supply. This acknowledges the need to understand the focus on quality of ingredients and the control systems required to effectively manage inventory and the associated total cost of ownership.
As such you will ideally come from a background in nutritional, dairy or food manufacturing with an innate understanding of the procurement categories involved and therefore the location of key relationships required to establish a successful supply line in a critical part of product production. Key stakeholders to your role will be, Production, technical and quality, each with a stake in obtaining and optimizing the right ingredients from the right source at the right time. Competence in MRP systems and demand planning will be strong enablers.
