Gilbert Sheetmetal & Engineering is a locally owned mid-sized company dedicated to sheet metal manufacturing excellence and has been based in West-Auckland for 30 years. Specialising in electrical enclosures, marine and architectural work, we offer our more than 30 staff a varied, busy and challenging working environment.
Reporting to the General Manager, the Fabrication Manager is responsible for the direct supervision of our fabrication team of 7 - 12 welders and fabricators.
Applicants MUST HAVE experience in welding/engineering/sheetmetal fabrication in order to be considered.
Responsibilities include:
- Provision of job details, times, drawings, tools and materials to staff in order to complete projects
- Supervision of staff to ensure work is completed on time, on budget and to the specifications and quality expected by the customer
- Ensuring staff complete required paperwork
- Review and sign off of daily timesheets
- Purchase and maintenance of workshop tools
- Management and completion of all Health and Safety requirements within the fabrication department
- Team building and coaching team members, including apprentices, to increase skill levels
- Assisting HR to ensure delivery of documents, messages and performance reviews to staff as necessary
The successful candidate must have the following skills, experience and attributes:
- At least 2 years staff management experience
- A trade certificate and a minimum of 5 years trade experience
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written English must be to a high standard)
- Experience in completing health and safety documents and requirements
- Good computer skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly
- Good attention to detail and a positive can do attitude
Hours are 7.30am - 5pm Monday to Friday and alternate Saturday mornings. Extra hours as required.
