  • 12-Month Contract. Vibrant, innovative, people-first culture.

The Opportunity

We have a unique 12-month opportunity to join our NZ Procurement team to lead local relationships and conversations as a key part of our regional and global procurement approach. In this role you’ll have the chance to combine business intimacy with the category management focus which underpins our global operating model. We have moved well beyond sourcing and into world-class, centre-led category management, populated by experts, who are integrated partners making sustainable and dramatic improvements to our diverse organisation.

As a Procurement Specialist, you will play a critical role in realising our aspiration to deliver a world-class service and act as a significant interface to business stakeholders right across the BP NZ Sales, Marketing, Supply and Lubricants businesses. Partnering with the business to understand and enable business priorities, your mission is to act as a champion for business needs within a Procurement context and at the same time to instil and deliver procurement and commercial excellence for optimal business outcomes. You’ll need to be wired into both the Procurement function globally as well as the local business, helping to shape and drive the business agenda, identifying impactful opportunities to deliver value.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as business interface supporting the NZ Procurement Manager with business management review meetings, and in maintaining strong, proactive business stakeholder relationships.
  • Responsible for ensuring alignment of global Procurement objectives with New Zealand based business objectives.
  • Co-ordinate inputs to business, supplier and demand insight for Procurement Category teams to inform future strategy development and to the business for process development and improvement
  • Support the NZ Procurement Manager in fielding and allocating demand to appropriate channels; developing and implementing cross-category regional procurement strategies, processes and plans and ensuring that country-related value delivery targets are set, tracked and achieved.
  • Supporting reporting and assurance of Procurement value delivery. Engaging with the ASPAC Procurement team and the Global Indirect Procurement team on strategies and plans impacting New Zealand.
  • In-country point of contact for procurement systems, processes and operational handover including issues resolution with global shared services teams.
  • Manage country procurement performance indicators in compliance with existing guidelines, processes, budgets, plans and goals.
  • Lead or support activities across the procurement lifecycle including market engagements or agreed elements of sourcing or supplier management to support Category teams, including issue resolution from both suppliers and business.
  • Represent BP for the country suppliers / contractors and ensure that performance and health and safety requirements are understood and fulfilled.

About You

To be considered, you will have robust experience in procurement with strengths in business partnering and stakeholder management. You know what good looks like and thrive on making a difference. Retail, FMCG or convenience experience would be helpful but not essential. You’re a great relationship manager and analyst who is focussed on continuous improvement, comfortable with change and is excited by the opportunity to work right across our NZ business and being part of world-class Procurement function.
