About the role
  
Reporting to the Contract Manager, you will be accountable for all aspects of procurement of raw materials required by the company’s contract manufacturing division. This will include:
  • Costing: obtaining and collating pricing of (mostly) electronic parts to allow competitive quoting,
  • Product sourcing: selecting new or alternative parts as required.
  • Generating and reviewing RFQs.
  • Purchasing raw materials used in prototyping.
  • Working collaboratively with suppliers to ensure optimal lead times, price competitiveness and inventory levels are maintained, and continuously improved.
  • Keeping an overview of marketing conditions, emerging technology, and new potential suppliers.
  • Acting as back-up to the Purchasing Officer regarding day to day MRP-driven purchasing as required.
  
Skills and Experience
  
The company seeks an experienced  Buyer who can hit the ground running.
  • Working knowledge of electronic components, and the purchasing thereof is essential.
  • Ideally you have experience working within a high SKU, technically orientated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing supplier relationships.
  • Understanding of end-to-end supply chain, from sales forecasts through procurement, purchasing, planning and manufacturing, warehousing and inventory management, and delivery to the customer. Your knowledge is ideally supported by a relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Computer literate – with minimum intermediate level skills with ERP systems (ideally JDE) and MS applications (Excel, Word and Outlook)
  • Proficient in data analysis.
  • You have the ability to persuade and influence, are a great communicator and a savvy negotiator.
