Our client is a young FMCG company, operating in multiple market segments, channels, and countries. Their breakfast food division is searching for Machine Setters for Night Shift. The Machine Setter role is key to achieving the production plan and ensuring quality control. Reporting to the Production Coordinator, the Machine Setter is the most senior hands on role within the manufacturing cell and is responsible for safe and effective changeovers and operation of plant and equipment to agreed standards. The position is hands on, and is the go-to person within the manufacturing cell providing leadership and direction to the team and therefore required to act on the production coordinators behalf when required. The Machine Setter along with the Production Coordinator will have the greatest working knowledge of plant and will be expected to train and lead the other staff within the manufacturing cell. The Machine Setter will provide support to the Production Coordinator in the leadership of their shift and take a leadership role in the absence of the Production Coordinator. The key duties and responsibilities for this role will include, but are not limited to: Safety - Ensure that Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is used appropriately by all in the work area and lead by example to all team members in respect to Food Safety, Health, Safety and Environmental compliance. Quality Management - Performs all required quality checks at the correct time as per the agreed operating procedures and ensures correct check sheets are available for team members before the start of each production run that matches production plan. Product evaluation. Strictly follows housekeeping and cleaning. Operations – Ensure start up procedures are followed and check sheets completed. Review processes and procedures for ongoing improvement and ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) match approved processes. Achieve daily production plan and monitor line performance and take action when needed. Ensure machine settings are adhered to and review machine settings to potential improvements. Facilitate and/ or conducts counts & returns all raw materials and packaging at the end of each production run. Technical Competency - Able to provide troubleshooting expertise on some of the key plant and process within their manufacturing cell. Able to provide basic root cause analysis of machinery failures and stops and co-ordinate remedial action directly with internal resources. Operate and coordinate plant operations within a team or independently. People - Conducts themselves in a manner aligned to the company’s values and holds all team members accountable to the same standard. Provides leadership and direction to staff within their manufacturing cell Cost / Productivity - Ensure all processes start on time as per production plan and ensures break timings are adhered to. Supports process improvement initiatives and is an active voice in process improvement opportunities Night shift is from 16:00pm to 4:00am, Monday to Saturday, rostered days. The ideal candidates will have an NCEA Level 1 and a minimum of 4 years work experience in a manufacturing environment. Preference will be given to candidates with relevant experience in the food industry. This role requires a high level of numerical competency, and an excellent command of written and oral English.
