An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly motivated person to join an NGO who is a leading mental health and social housing provider and provides community based, recovery focused mental health and housing support services across the Auckland region.
Our client is not only focused on the well-being of those who need support and guidance through their recovery journey but are equally committed to fostering strong relationships with their Māori and Pacific communities.
The Financial Accountant role will be responsible for supporting the Financial Controller and the wider business team, assisting with the processing of all accounts and financial functions of the organisation.
Working within a small but vibrant team, you will bring your well-honed skills working with detailed reporting, analysis and compliance and be confident applying innovative ideas that will streamline and improve business processes and systems.
If you have experience with practices and processes in accounting, financial and business tax legislation, we’d love to hear from you.
In addition, you will have an investigative mind; great attention to details and thrive in situations that require your astute problem-solving skills.
Previous experience working within a not for profit organisation and knowledge of mental health legislation would be an advantage but not essential.
You will possess:
- Great communication, planning and organisational skills.
- Relevant tertiary qualification.
- Chartered Accountant with CAANZ (or working towards).
- Experience in preparation of monthly financial and management statements including variance analysis.
- Experience in reporting/data analysis.
- Conversant with business tax law and its practical application.
- Working knowledge of Payroll essential (MYOB).
- General ledger and statutory returns (GST, PAYE, ACC).
- Computer literacy across the MS Suite (Word, Advanced Excel, Office 365).
- Accounts software, QuickBooks or a similar package.
- Possess a non-judgmental and supportive attitude.
- Full, clean drivers licence and clear police record.
- An understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi application in a contemporary setting.
