The Position
Based in Christchurch working alongside the rural support team, you will work with a portfolio of existing customers and intermediaries to sell assigned lending products, secure new customers and build and maintain excellent relationships with your farmer clients and their advisers (accountants, consultants, stock agents, solicitors, etc.).

You'll need to be able to talk their language and be able to connect well across the farm gate. You need to be someone with a good understanding of good farming practices while utilising your banking/finance knowledge to structure deals that work for both parties. You will have strong risk awareness, with an ability to assess the performance risk, market risk, and character risk of the farmer. Plus, you will be able to work autonomously, reporting into the national manager.

Requirements
  • Relationship Management experience is key to this position
  • Several years of experience in a rural finance/banking role
  • Livestock and farming knowledge (and ideally experience)
  • Financial analytical skills and the ability to use, communicate and apply this information
  • Ability to leverage your professional networks and contracts to provide relationship opportunities
  • Good understanding of business development tactics and an ability to drive a transaction to completion
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Passion for providing personalised products to farmers.
