About the business
We are a New Zealand operated business focused on producing and exporting NZ Beef and Lamb. We ensure quality products are delivered to our international consumers. To do this we need you to ensure that our meat is skilfully processed at our multi-species export processing meat plant in Oamaru.
About the role
The production manager's core focus will be the smooth operation of the boning room and dispatch operations whilst ensuring that stock are processed as per the demand plan. We are looking for someone that has the focus and attention to detail to ensure minimal wastage and efficient use of the total animal. It's crucial that you have an in-depth understanding of carcass cuts, how animals are processed and expected yields coupled with sound team leadership.
Responsibilities
Day-to day responsibilities include;
- Managing the team (with up to 90 indirect reports) including coaching and mentoring staff
- Reporting to the plant management team on key indicators
- Ensuring that quality standards and people's safety are never compromised
- Implementing agreed changes to improve efficiencies and carcass yields
Skills and experience
You'll have:
- Experience in meat manufacturing and further processing (at least 5 years)
- Proven people management skills
- The ability to analyse, problems solve and take action
- Good literacy and numeracy skills with moderate computer ability (excel)
- Attention to detail and record keeping
- Excellent communication skills
