The Objective:

•            Manage and lead the warehouse team conducting the day-to-day warehousing operations of the Auckland stock points, excluding Silverdale, within the parameters of agreed resource allocation

•            Manage the allocation of resources for the daily inwards & order fulfilment tasks inclusive of required freight management activities to ensure agreed targets are met or exceeded

•            Drive improvements in Health & Safety and productivity, with a focus on quality, throughout The Warehouse and Distribution chains

Reporting to the Logistics Manager, you will have the responsibility to proactively lead a dedicated team of warehouse and logistics employees at our Auckland DC in Wiri. Staff numbers made up from permanent and temporary resource fluctuate between 8-12 throughout the year.  

You will be the main point of communication on behalf of the Auckland Warehouse with internal stakeholders at the Head office and your line manager, the Logistics Manager, concerning the daily order fulfilment life-cycle, stock enquiries and the overall inventory and operational performance, as expressed in KPI scores.

This role is pivotal for our operation and we are looking for a natural born leader with a true customer focus, who is happy to roll up the sleeves and lead the team from within.

You will enjoy having ownership and accountability for supporting the business process to deliver to our customers.

You will be someone who can manage competing priorities with strong organisational ability.  Previous experience working in a service focused logistics operation is essential.   You will have strong stakeholder relationship management ability and experience, with a real operational ability to ensure consistent high DIFOTIS scores.

You will have at least 5 years of warehousing & logistics experience in some form of management capacity. You will be driven with a strong desire to succeed and for the betterment of yourself and your team.  You will have a keen focus on continuous improvement and possess critical thinking ability.

ERP system and other related IT software knowledge are essential.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Team Management; created the conditions that will allow every team member to be the best they can be, consistently.
  • Resource Allocation; maintain a well-balanced pool of resources across the functional areas of the DC.
  • Analytics and Financial prudence; understanding root cause and identifying preventative countermeasures yet demonstrating fiscal responsibility at all times.
