Sovereign have an exciting opportunity for a senior actuarial analyst to join the Capital and Reinsurance Team. Reporting to a Senior Actuary, this role is part of a high performing Actuarial team within the wider Financial Services Division. In this role you will lead and provide support to projects and to business as usual tasks across a range of actuarial work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build data analytics capabilities utilising software such as SQL, R and Prophet
  • Lead and provide support to special projects
  • Support financial and regulatory reporting
  • Support solvency and capital management
  • Model governance and validation
  • Mentor and support Actuarial Analysts

Experience and skills required

  • Tertiary qualification with quantitative background
  • Financial services industry experience (ideally life or health insurance, but other financial services experience will be also considered)
  • Proven strong technical skills, including analytical skills
  • Intermediate to advanced Prophet skills
  • Strong programming skills. Familiarity with SQL, R, Tableau or other relevant platforms is preferable 
  • Depending on background a range of candidates will be considered, from early stages of actuarial exams through to newly qualified
  • Strong business acumen and ability to deal with ambiguity
  • Highly motivated and results driven
  • Developing project and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to engage with non-actuarial stakeholders and business partners
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines
