Based in South Auckland, my client is a strongly branded, well recognised company and a significant player in the Office Products industry in New Zealand. They are committed to proving full office supply solutions for their clients across all their business needs.

They are currently in the process of decentralizing and Australian based Purchasing team and are bringing it back in house to be based in Highbrook. They are therefore looking for an additional 2 strong Purchasing Officers to join and add value to their team

 This is an exceptional chance to join their company in an exciting time of growth and when time will be invested to ensure a very streamlined transition period.

The role we are recruiting for will be working across their Purchasing & Inventory functions and will be responsible for taking responsibility for the effective procurement of all products, along with the management of stock of warehoused items, optimizing inventory levels and minimizing customer back orders. You will be part of a team that is responsible for the full purchasing function form placing an order with a vendor, through the delivery process, right until they are getting paid. (and a multitude of processes in between).

This is a very busy, multifaceted position, which involves very strong Administration, Coordination, Communication and Purchasing and Inventory Management skills…where you will need to be incredibly organised and have great attention to detail.

Accountabilities:

  • Apply appropriate purchasing methodology to (on demand, auto replenishment or cyclic ordering) groups of items within a warehouse/s
  • Place purchase orders on suppliers and follow through to fulfilment of the order
  • Run key reports to ensure internal processes enable timely supply of goods to customers
  • Escalating supplier issues, when not resolved, to management
  • Respond to internal enquiries regarding stock replenishment issues
  • ·Adhere to internal strategic supply agreements and direction
  • Provide input to the Supply Surveys for Supplier Quarterly Reviews
  • Ad-hoc reporting and tasks allocated by your Manager
  • Supplier Relationship Management
  • Maintain inventory turns in line with company working capital targets

About You:

  • A strong understanding of all Procurement/ Purchasing/ Shipping processes
  • Experience working with offshore Vendors and Freight Forwarders
  • Adopts a “can-do”, solution focussed attitude that supports sales deliverables
  • Ability to prepare and make sure the appropriate documentation is processed accurately.
  • Some accounts knowledge will come in handy. A strong numerical ability is essential.
  • Well-developed computer skills, with confidence in Word, Outlook & Excel.
  • Any SAP experience will be beneficial
  • Effective communication with both suppliers & clients alike.
  • Be process driven, super organised, strong time management and prioritisation skills  
  • Thrives on a busy environment, is self-motivated and enjoys working in a team
  •  Lateral thinker - able to work through any issues as they arise. – KEEP CALM and CARRY ON
  • Desire to exceed customer expectations with very good follow up skills
  • Proactive approach to meeting deadlines while working under pressure.
