Switch Lighting is proud to be New Zealand’s leading LED luminaire manufacturer.  We are a NZ owned and operated company and the lights are designed, assembled and distributed from our factory in Nelson.

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Inventory Controller to join our team at the Nelson factory.   We are looking for an organised, methodical team player with a strong analytical background.  Ideally, we would like to employ a detailed and process-driven person; someone who works well under pressure and thinks on their feet.

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities

 

Incoming Goods

  • Purchasing all raw materials
  • Utilising forecast spreadsheet to determine order quantity and lead times
  • Liaising with suppliers to ensure lead times are met
  • Receipting, unpacking and checking all incoming goods
  • Ensure all stock is located in designated stock locations
  • Co-ordinate regular stocktakes and cycle counts to ensure inventories are accurate
  • Process returns to stock (warranty items or goods not required) and take appropriate action.

 

General

  • Liaise with the Operations Manager re production scheduling to ensure optimum stock levels on the shelves
  • Continual development of stores related processes
  • Have a thorough understanding of Lean principles – setup Kanban etc.
  • Provide backup cover to sales support, managing sales orders and dispatching of goods to customers
  • Keeping good records/documentation for incoming goods.

 

General Skills & Personal Qualities

  • Strong team player – work well in a team environment
  • Excellent communication skills – sound written and verbal communication skills
  • At least 2yrs experience in a similar role
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Excellent time management skills – work well under pressure and prioritise workload and able to multitask
  • Technical ability – an aptitude and a willingness to learn LED technology in order to fully understand the role
  • Competent system skills – Word, Outlook, advanced Excel, as well as the ability to learn custom software
  • Flexible, positive, easy going personality with hands-on attitude
  • Have a clear understanding of the company's policies and vision and how the inventory management function contributes to these
  • Forklift drivers licence would be an advantage.
